In a matter of pride for the organization, Jammu and Kashmir Police has been adjudged the Best Performer in Passport Seva for the year 2025-26, securing the distinction for the second consecutive year.
The force received the Institutional Performance Award for State Police during Passport Seva Divas, organised by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on June 18 and 19. The Certificate of Recognition was presented by the Minister of State for External Affairs and received on behalf of J&K Police by Peerzada Naveed, JKPS, SSP SB CID.
According to officials, J&K Police completed verification of 1,64,354 passport applications between April 2025 and March 2026. The Ministry of External Affairs appreciated the force’s efforts in streamlining verification procedures, reducing processing time and maintaining effective coordination with Passport Seva Kendras across the Union Territory. Officials said the achievement reflects the department’s commitment to efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric service delivery.
Director General of Police, J&K, said the recognition reflects the commitment and hard work of officers and staff who have worked to make passport-related services more efficient and accessible for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials stated that the initiative has contributed to improved public confidence, facilitated smoother travel for citizens and supported their personal, educational and professional requirements.J&K Police had also received the same recognition during the previous year.
The force received the Institutional Performance Award for State Police during the Passport Seva Divas celebrations and Regional Passport Officers’ Conference held at Sushma Swaraj Bhavan, New Delhi. The Certificate of Recognition and Plaque of Appreciation were presented by the Minister of State for External Affairs for J&K Police’s high level of service, commitment, and contribution to good governance through speedy police verification for passports.
The initiative has strengthened public trust, improved ease of travel, and supported both personal and professional needs of citizens, officials added. The recognition underscores J&K Police’s broader mission of delivering excellence in public service.
