The Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted extensive searches at several hotels in Pahalgam as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, officials said on Friday. Several hotels operating in the Pahalgam sub-division were raided during the operation.

The operation was carried out in the Mavoora, Rafting Point and Yanner areas by six dedicated police teams under the direct supervision of the SDPO, Pahalgam.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the teams searched multiple hotel premises to prevent the misuse of tourist accommodations for narcotics-related activities and strengthen surveillance against the drug nexus operating in the region.

Police officials said the raids were part of the ongoing campaign to curb the drug menace and ensure a safe and secure environment for both residents and tourists. They said the J&K Police remained committed to building a drug-free society and maintaining peace in the region.

While these actions may come as a surprise to many, police have already conducted similar raids at hotels, guest houses and rented accommodations across the Kashmir Valley to dismantle drug trafficking networks.

Since the launch of the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has crackdown heavily on drug syndicates, leading to the arrest of hundreds of people.

The number of FIRs registered under the campaign has crossed the 1,000 mark. Authorities have also seized cash, drugs and properties and demolition drives.
