Jammu and Kashmir Police released posters of wanted terrorists, including a key Jaish-e-Mohammad commander, Saifullah, in Doda district as part of intensified counter-insurgency operations on Saturday.
The posters have been displayed at strategic locations, checkpoints, and public places, including Nagri, Dessa, and Ganpat Bridge — entry points to the district — seeking information from the public about the terrorists’ whereabouts.
Officials said the move follows fresh intelligence inputs indicating the presence of terrorists in the area. More posters of active terrorists are expected to be released in vulnerable and remote locations in the coming days.
On Saturday morning, security forces busted a terrorist hideout in the Chilli forest area of Gandoh, recovering food items and other essentials. The recoveries confirm recent terrorist movement in the region, prompting intensified searches in the surrounding forests. The posters urge locals to share credible information with the police, assuring complete confidentiality and protection for informants.
The campaign forms part of broader counter-terror efforts aimed at capturing or neutralising wanted terrorists. Operations have been extended to the neighbouring Kishtwar district, which has seen a resurgence of militant activity in recent years. A large-scale, multi-district search operation involving Kishtwar, Doda, and Kathua has been underway since January 18, resulting in multiple firefights between terrorists and security forces.
