The Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified efforts to track down the terrorist involved in the deadly attack on a passenger bus in Reasi district, releasing a sketch of the suspect and announcing a ₹20 lakh reward for information leading to his capture.

As per reports, there were three terrorists, with one local aide involved in the attack.

On Sunday, terrorists opened fire on a 53-seater bus carrying pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi as it travelled from the Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, near Teryath village in the Poni area.

The bus plunged into a deep gorge following the gunfire, resulting in the deaths of nine people and injuries to 41 others.

"Reasi police announce a reward of ₹20 lakh for any fruitful information about the whereabouts of the terrorist involved in the recent attack on the Yatri bus in the area of Pouni," a police spokesperson said.

The sketch of the terrorist was prepared based on descriptions provided by eyewitnesses. The police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could assist in apprehending the suspect.

Extensive efforts to locate the terrorists responsible for the attack continued on Tuesday, with 11 teams of security personnel working on the ground and a multi-directional cordon established around the Ranso-Poni-Treyath belt, officials said.
