J&K’s: Arms cache recovered from terror hideout in Reasi district

The recovered arms and ammunition in Reasi.


Security forces on Saturday recovered arms and ammunition from the hideout in J&K’s Reasi district during a search operation.

 

A senior police official informed ‘Acting on credible information about the presence of a hideout in the area of Darnas Barneli, an operation was initiated to sanitise the area led by SP Thiloo in the area.’

 

“During the operation, a police team recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the hideout located in the Dalas area of Arnas,” he said.

 

The recovered material includes two detonators, twelve cartridges of assault Fifle, one pull-through, one calculator IED, one battery and a few connecter wires.”

 

Meanwhile, SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma- IPS further informed that operation in the area is still going on and that Reasi police is committed to neutralising any rogue and nefarious elements having anti-national sentiments.’

 

Although the Lok Sabha elections in Reasi which is a part of the Udhampur constituency were peaceful, so far no incidents of violence relating to polls were recorded from the area.

 

Earlier this week security forces seized a huge sum of arms and ammunition from war-like stores from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

 

Security agencies have been specially alerted in the J&K ahead of the polls, as they believe that anti-national elements may try to disrupt the elections by attacking the security forces and polling stations.

 

Agencies have also warned security forces that there are 15 to 20 active terrorists in Poonch and Rajouri, who are looking to attack security forces during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
