Jammu and Kashmir to receive rain and snowfall within the next 24 hours, said the Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Sunday.
Met forecasts light rain and snow over a few higher reaches in the Kashmir region late on the evening of December 8 and into the morning of December 9.
As per the advisory, the weather will remain generally cloudy on 8 and 9 December, with expected rain and snowfall likely to occur in some areas of the plains and hilly regions of the Jammu division and light snow over a few higher-altitude areas in Kashmir.
The forecast for December 10 and 11 indicates generally dry weather, while December 12 is expected to bring light snow to isolated higher reaches under cloudy skies. From December 13 to 17, dry weather is predicted.
Earlier, the traffic on the historical Mughal road was closed on Sunday following a fresh snowfall along the road.
In a post on X, J&K Traffic Police wrote, “Traffic movement stopped on Mughal Road and Sinthan Road due to fresh snowfall.”
"People are advised to avoid travelling on Mughal Road and Sinthan Road until the road becomes passable," it said.
Meanwhile, the traffic has further issued an advisory to the visiting tourists and travellers towards Kashmir to follow the instructions issued by the administration and traffic department.
