J&K: Three soldiers killed in separate accidents

A joint team of police, the army, and locals reached the spot and started a rescue operation, officials added.

Officials told reporters that this morning, a bus bearing registration number Jk02x-1671 en route from Ghani Mendhar lost control and fell into the gorge.


At least four people, including a solider, were killed while forty-four others were injured after a bus met with an accident in the Ghani Mendhar area of the Poonch district on Tuesday.

 

Two Army personnel were killed and two others injured on Tuesday when their vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said.

 

The incident occurred on Reyala Murchana Road in the Teetwal area of Karnah, where the Army vehicle lost control and rolled down a steep slope.

 

According to officials, two soldiers died on the spot, while the injured personnel were immediately evacuated to a nearby Army hospital for treatment.

 

Solider among four killed in mini-bus mishap in Poonch

 

In a separate incident, least four people, including a solider, were killed while forty-four others were injured after a bus met with an accident in the Ghani Mendhar area of the Poonch district on Tuesday.

 

Officials told reporters that this morning, a bus bearing registration number Jk02x-1671 en route from Ghani Mendhar lost control and fell into the gorge.

 

The incident resulted in the death of four passengers on the spot, while forty-four others sustained injuries.

 

A joint team of police, the army, and locals reached the spot and started a rescue operation, officials added.

 

The deceased had been identified as 45-year-old Mohd Majeed, 55-year-old Shakeela Begum and 50-year-old Mohd Haneef of Ghani village and 60-year-old Noor Hussain of Kasblari. Majeed, a soldier posted in Assam, who had come to his village on leave.

 

Hussain and Majeed were found dead on the spot by the rescuers, Begum died on the way to GMC Hospital Rajouri and Haneef succumbed during treatment at GMC Rajouri, they said, adding the condition of seven more injured persons was stated to be "critical".

 

Confirming the incident, BMO Mendhar Dr Ashfaq Ahmad told reporters that five critically injured persons were referred to the Jammu Government Medical College (GMC) hospital for specialised treatment.

 

 "We have mobilised all the 15 ambulances on getting information about the accident and the injured were shifted from the scene with the active assistance of police, CRPF, Army and local volunteers," the doctor said.

 

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed their grief over the accident.
