Leader of the Opposition and former CM Jai Ram Thakur reached Kangra airport on Wednesday morning to attend the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha winter session. The winter session begins on Wednesday.
Thakur arrived from Delhi after holding a meeting with BJP president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. During the meeting, discussions were held on slow pace of post-monsoon restoration works in the hill state. Thakur also sought central grants for relief and rehabilitation.
He said the BJP has finalised its plan to corner the Sukhu government in the Assembly.
Thakur further stated that “We will raise every issue concerning the common people and will expose the Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government, which has failed on all fronts.”
He added that poor law and order, the government’s clash with the State Election Commission over panchayat polls, the unnecessary use of the Disaster Management Act to delay PRI polls, the spread of drugs in a state like Himachal Pradesh, especially in educational institutions, and weak fiscal management will be raised strongly in the House.
Thakur accused the Congress government of “near bankruptcy” and said weak financial management had forced the state to stop payments to contractors, delay pensions and medical reimbursements, and hold back dearness allowance dues of employees.
“The time is not far when people will show the Congress government the door. A new dawn of development will rise in Himachal Pradesh,” he said. He further said the BJP stands with people affected by the recent disaster.
