Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Thursday that Jammu is rapidly evolving into a major trade and logistics hub. He said the region has become an important link connecting Ladakh and the Kashmir Valley with the country’s key commercial corridors, thanks to significant enhancements in road and rail connectivity over the past five years.
Speaking at the Jammu Trade and Logistics Conclave–2025, LG Sinha said the region’s growing connectivity has unlocked vast economic potential and positioned Jammu as a pivotal gateway for regional trade.
He said developing and maintaining a robust storage, logistics and warehousing ecosystem is “the need of the hour” to drive the economy toward greater self-reliance, ensure direct producer-to-consumer linkages, and fulfil the aspirations of traders, industrialists, farmers, artisans and MSMEs.
“This transformation will strengthen local value chains and give a major push to sustainable economic growth,” he said.
The 2025 Jammu Trade and Logistics Conclave is focused on highlighting the potential of the region as a massive economic prospect for J&K’s overall development.
With mega projects such as the Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Motorway, the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), and the proposed multi-modal logistics parks, the region is on the cusp of transformation.
To capitalise on this momentum, Sinha called for close coordination and policy implementation, investment in infrastructure, private sector engagement, and digital integration.
The conclave has brought together government leaders, industry and knowledge partners to chart the way forward.
