Intelligence agencies have reportedly issued a serious warning regarding a possible terror threat in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, prompting the state government and police administration to move into high alert mode.

Following the intelligence input, senior police officials, including Jamshedpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Piyush Pandey, have been directed to exercise heightened vigilance and strengthen security arrangements across the district.

The district administration has stated that the situation is fully under control and that all security agencies are working in close coordination. Adequate preparations have been made to deal with any potential threat.

Citizens have been urged to remain calm, continue their normal activities, and refrain from paying attention to rumours.

According to sources, additional police forces have been deployed at key locations across the city, including railway stations, bus terminals, markets, shopping malls, industrial areas, schools, hospitals, and religious places.

CCTV cameras are being checked, and continuous monitoring is being carried out from the control room. Police personnel in plain clothes have also been deployed in crowded areas to enhance surveillance. The administration has appealed to the public to immediately inform the police if they notice any suspicious person, unattended bag, vehicle or unusual activity. Senior police officers have emphasised that public vigilance plays a crucial role in preventing any major incident.

Meanwhile, police headquarters have confirmed that a terror attack alert has been issued in the district following inputs received from Interpol. In view of the potential threat, security measures have been significantly intensified.

As per intelligence reports, sleeper cells are suspected to be active in and around Jamshedpur. These sleeper cells are believed to have links with terrorists who have reportedly received training in Pakistan.

The report has warned that these elements may be planning a major conspiracy aimed at disturbing peace and communal harmony in the city.

In this connection, Syed Mohammad Arshiyan, a resident of Azadnagar (Zakirnagar, Road No. 14), has been identified as a prime suspect. Security agencies are maintaining special vigilance regarding Arshiyan.

Acting on a request from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice against him. He has also been on the Delhi Police’s most-wanted list for a considerable period.

Sources believe that Arshiyan is leading a local network in Jamshedpur and is allegedly involved in radicalising and recruiting youth. Security agencies continue to monitor the situation closely, while investigations are underway to neutralise any potential threat.
