A junior basic training (JBT) teacher posted at a government primary school in Shimla district has been suspended after he was found drunk on duty during an inspection by the SDM.

 

The Directorate of School Education issued the suspension order, officials said on Saturday.

 

The teacher, Hittu Machhan, is said to have been coming to school drunk for nearly a month. Some students even shifted to other schools because of his behaviour. Villagers filed a complaint with the SDM, which led to the inspection.

 

The suspension came after the SDM of Rohru visited the school on Friday and found him in an intoxicated state.

 

The teacher was taken to the civil hospital in Rohru for a medical examination. His blood sample was sent to the state forensic science laboratory in Junga, near Shimla town, officials further said.
