The Jharkhand BJP unit today alleged that the doctorate degree received by Minister Hafizul Ansari was obtained from a fake university, named "Bharat Virtual Open Educational University" — an institution that neither has the right to use the word university nor is recognised to confer any kind of educational degree.
Jharkhand BJP Spokesperson Ajay Sah said that this is clearly stated in Section 22 of the UGC Act 1956. Neither the UGC, nor the Government of India nor the Jharkhand Government has given any recognition to this fake university, he said.
Sah further claimed that after failing to obtain a degree from recognised universities operating under the Indian Constitution, Hafizul Ansari obtained a PhD degree from a fake university run by individuals following Sharia law, describing it as a purely paper-based institution.
He alleged that this institution is operated by some members of the Muslim community and has no legal existence.
Sah also claimed that this fake university shows its affiliation with “Central Christian University, Africa”, but a thorough investigation revealed that the Chancellor of this university, Dr Usman, had been awarded the title of Professor by an institution in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Based on this revelation, Sah made a serious allegation that the entire network surrounding Minister Hafizul Ansari's title appears to have links to Pakistan.
The BJP spokesperson further alleged that the conduct of the minister indicates that he prioritises Sharia law over the Indian Constitution in his actions and decisions.
He asserted that when such serious questions arise concerning a state minister, it is no longer a personal matter but becomes a question of the state's prestige and constitutional values.
Sah demanded a high-level investigation into the alleged Pakistan link in this entire episode so that the truth can emerge, and if any violations of law are found, strict action can be taken.
