Jharkhand BJP Chief Babulal Marandi files his nomination in the presence of Union Minister Annapurna Devi in Giridih on Monday.

Jharkhand BJP President Babulal Marandi today filed his nomination for the Dhanwar Assembly constituency in Giridih district.

Marandi, the incumbent MLA for the seat, initially won the constituency in 2019 on a JVM (P) ticket.

After the 2019 elections, he merged his JVM (P) party with the BJP, though the merger faced challenges in the Speaker’s Court when two of JVM (P)'s seven MLAs defected to join the Congress, claiming they represented the original party.

Ahead of filing his nomination, Marandi prayed at a temple and sought his mother’s blessings. Union Minister Annapurna Devi accompanied him to the nomination office.

Marandi highlighted BJP's ‘Panch Prana’ plan, aimed at fulfilling the aspirations of Jharkhand’s 3.5 crore residents.

As part of the proposed Gogo Didi scheme, he announced that each woman in Jharkhand would receive monthly financial aid of Rs 2,100 in her bank account on the 11th of every month.

The Laxmi Johar scheme, he added, would provide each household with an LPG cylinder at Rs 500 and two additional free cylinders annually. Through the Ghar Saakar scheme, the BJP promises permanent housing for 21 lakh families.

Other pledges include free sand for housing construction, an employment guarantee with 5 lakh self-employment opportunities for youth over the next five years, and a fair recruitment process for 2.87 lakh vacant government posts.

Marandi committed to initiating recruitment in the first Cabinet meeting, aiming to fill 1.5 lakh positions by November 2025.

The BJP leader also announced an annual examination calendar and a Yuva Sathi Allowance scheme, which will provide monthly stipends of Rs 2,000 to graduate and postgraduate students for two years.
