The Jharkhand unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to elect its new state president and members of the National Council on January 13 and 14, marking the final phase of the party’s year-long organisational exercise, ‘Sangathan Parv’.
The election schedule was formally announced on Sunday by BJP state election officer and Member of Parliament Dr Pradeep Verma during a press conference. The notification was also pasted on the notice board of the party’s state office.
Dr Verma said that the organisational process in Jharkhand has been underway for the past one year, beginning with the primary and active membership drive, followed by the formation of booth committees and the election of mandal and district presidents.
“The election of the state president and National Council members is the concluding stage of this organisational exercise,” he said.
According to the schedule, Union Minister Jual Oram has been appointed as the state election officer by BJP’s national election officer Dr K Laxman. Oram is expected to arrive in Ranchi late on January 12.
On January 13, the nomination process for the post of state BJP president and National Council members will take place at the state BJP office between 12 noon and 2 pm.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted from 2 pm to 3 pm, while candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations until 5 pm on the same day.
The formal announcement of the newly elected state president and National Council members will be made on January 14 at 2 pm at Carnival Hall on Harmu Road.
In the event that more than one nomination for the post of state president is found valid, voting will be conducted.
Dr Verma said the declaration on January 14 will formally conclude the BJP’s organisational elections in Jharkhand.
