The Jharkhand BJP unit has suffered a significant setback, with several leaders resigning and joining the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), prompting a damage control effort from the party.

BJP National Organisation General Secretary B.L. Santosh arrived in Ranchi on Tuesday and instructed party officials to engage with all disgruntled leaders.

BJP insiders revealed that Santosh has urged senior leaders to reconnect with as many members as possible and foster a positive atmosphere.

He reportedly emphasised that preventing further resignations after the announcement of party candidates should be the primary responsibility of party officials.

Santosh noted that resignations following ticket distribution send a negative message among the cadres, and therefore, senior leaders must meet with disgruntled members to address their concerns.

The National Organisation Secretary has also directed senior leaders to listen to the unhappy members and take steps to dissuade them from leaving.

Additionally, he has urged the party to prevent leaders from filing nominations as independent candidates and to devise a plan to retain them within the party.

Santosh held a meeting with election management officials in Ranchi, attended by notable figures including Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Himanta Biswa Sarma, State President Babulal Marandi, and State Organisation General Secretary Karmaveer Singh.

Notably, it is uncommon for BJP leaders to leave the party for the JMM, and when it does happen, it is usually in small numbers. However, the recent mass exodus of prominent BJP leaders to the JMM has shocked the organisation.

A significant number of BJP leaders joined the JMM in a single day on October 21. Among them, party leader Surya Hansda has expressed dissatisfaction over not receiving a ticket for Borio and is likely to contest the election as an independent, having previously been a BJP candidate.
