Barely a couple of months ahead of the Assembly polls, the Jharkhand government on Friday removed Ajay Kumar Singh from the post of Director General of Police. Anurag Gupta, who was the ACB cum CID DG, has been made the new DGP of Jharkhand.
Gupta will contribute as the in-charge DGP of Jharkhand. The government has also issued a notification regarding Anurag Gupta being made the in-charge DGP.
A 1990 batch IPS officer Anurag Gupta is known as a competent IPS officer. Along with the in-charge DGP, Anurag Gupta will also look after the work of the
Anti-Corruption Bureau and CID DG. Gupta was promoted to the DG rank in the year 2022. After getting the DG rank, he was first made DG Training.
The government has shifted DGP Ajay Kumar Singh as Chairman cum Managing Director of Jharkhand Police Housing Corporation Limited, Ranchi.
Another senior IPS officer Prashant Kumar has been upgraded from the post of Additional Director General of Police Communication and Technical Services Ranchi to the category of Director General of Police and posted as DG, Communication and Technical Services.
Ajay Kumar Singh is a 1989 batch officer. He was made the DGP of Jharkhand in February 2023. Before that, he was posted as DG in ACB. Before becoming DGP Jharkhand, he was posted as MD of Police Housing Corporation.
Ajay Kumar Singh has served in various departments of the state at the rank of ADGP. He has also served in CID, Special Branch and Railways. Singh has also served as the SP of Hazaribagh and Dhanbad.
