Arjun Munda, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, virtually laid the foundation stone for the 'Centre for Conservation and Promotion of Tribal Culture and Heritage' in Padampur, Kharsawan district of Jharkhand, on March 16.

The initiative aims to depict and safeguard the rich heritage of Jharkhand's tribal community, showcasing their vibrant lifestyle and culture.

During the ceremony, Munda emphasized the Central Government's decade-long commitment to 'development alongside the preservation of traditions and cultural heritage'.

He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's unwavering dedication to preserving and promoting Indian knowledge systems, traditions, and cultural ethos on both national and international platforms.

According to Munda, it is the collective responsibility to empower the tribal community, aligning with the Prime Minister's vision for a self-reliant India.

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has allocated a budget of Rs 10 crore for establishing the center in Kharsawan district, intending to exhibit the tangible and intangible tribal culture, history, and heritage of the region.

Furthermore, Munda outlined the center's role as a knowledge hub, providing support to tribal communities for their holistic development. The long-term goal is to transform the center into a dynamic platform, promoting artisanal skills and fostering tourism.

Additionally, Munda inaugurated the refurbished National Unique Tribal Museum, e-Library, and Scheduled Tribe Girls Hostel at Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sangathan (BAJSS) in New Delhi. BAJSS, established in 1948 by Amritlal Vithaldas Thakkar, known as Thakkar Bapa, has been instrumental in uplifting tribal communities.
