The Jharkhand Government has announced a nearly 50% reduction in air ambulance charges. On Wednesday, the Jharkhand Cabinet approved 37 proposals, including a waiver of farmers' loans up to Rs 2 lakh.
Jharkhand Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel stated that the reduction in service charges for air ambulances aims to make the service more accessible to a larger number of people.
"The Cabinet has approved the proposal to reduce the charges for the state government's air ambulance services, slashing the rates by almost 50%," Dadel said.
The revised charges for air ambulance services are as follows: from Ranchi to New Delhi, the rate has been reduced from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 3.10 lakh; from Ranchi to Mumbai, from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 4 lakh; and from Ranchi to Chennai, from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 3.30 lakh.
Additionally, the charges from Ranchi to Kolkata have been decreased from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 1 lakh, and from Ranchi to Hyderabad, from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh.
This initiative, launched on April 28 last year, aims to enhance medical transport facilities for emergency situations. The air ambulance service, equipped with emergency equipment and doctors, is available within two hours of booking.
Flights can be rescheduled provided it does not interfere with other bookings. The service is available not only in Ranchi but also in Deoghar, Dumka, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih, and Jamshedpur.
Among other Cabinet decisions were doubling the honorarium for tribal village heads, including Manki, Parganait, Munda, Gram Pradhan, Dakuwa, Paranik, Jogmanjhi, Kudam Nayaki, Nayaki, Godait, Mool Raiyat, Rural Diuri (Priest), Padha Raja, Head of Gram Sabha, Ghatwal, and Tavedar.
Manki's monthly honorarium will increase from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000, while Munda and other village heads will see their payments doubled from Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000, respectively.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved waiving farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh, benefiting approximately 1.91 lakh farmers.
