The Jharkhand High Court on Friday denied provisional bail to former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
However, the court allowed him to attend his uncle’s last rites with conditions.
The court hearing the provisional bail plea of Soren, accused of money laundering through the land scam, gave strict instructions that while attending the last rites of his uncle, Soren will not talk to the media nor will he discuss any political matter.
Soren's petition was heard in the court of Justice Rangon Mukhopadhyay.
The former Jharkhand chief minister on April 30 had filed a petition in the High Court, challenging the order of the Ranchi PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) Special Court, which had refused to grant him provisional bail.
Soren had sought provisional bail of three days from the High Court in his appeal. In the petition, he has requested the court to allow him to attend his uncle's funeral.
Hemant Soren’s uncle and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Chief Shibu Soren’s elder brother Raja Ram Soren had passed away on April 27.
Notably, the High Court on Friday dismissed Soren’s petition challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.
Soren has also filed a petition against the delay in High Court order in the matter.
