The court asked the government what Special Operating Procedure (SOP) has been mandated for information of foreign tourists entering the state as well as their safety and assistance by the state administration during their stay here.

If there is no such SOP what is the government’s plan to make one in the future, the court asked.

During the hearing, the government informed the court that all eight accused in the case had been arrested by police and the victim had been given Rs 10 lakh compensation by the administration.

The Spanish woman was gang-raped in the area of Dumka district which falls under the Hansdiha police station and was beaten up, with her husband being robbed.

The woman had reached Kurumahat located in the Hansdiha police station area of Dumka with her husband. The couple had stayed in a tent in Kunji village of Hansdiha police station area of Dumka while going from Pakistan to Bangladesh and then to Nepal via Bengal.
