Jharkhand Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari once again received a death threat, this time through a late-night phone call from an unidentified number. The call came around while the minister was staying at the Bokaro Circuit House to attend an official programme.
According to sources, the caller hurled abuses and threatened to blow up the minister “very soon.” Dr Ansari immediately informed the police, after which security agencies were put on high alert and his security cover further strengthened.
Police have launched an investigation and are tracing the phone number to identify the caller. Confirming the incident, Ansari’s office said the minister is not intimidated by such threats.
“The law will take its course, and the culprit will be arrested soon,” an official from his office stated. Senior administrative and police officials have been briefed about the matter.
This is not the first time Ansari has been targeted. Just days ago, a youth from Giridih, Ankit Kumar Mishra, released a video on social media threatening to bomb both Ansari and Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar.
In the viral video, Mishra claimed to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and warned the ministers to apologise within 24 hours or face consequences.
However, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) later arrested Mishra in Patna. During interrogation, police discovered that he had no links to any organised criminal gang, though he had previously been jailed for petty offences.
The latest threat has once again raised concerns about the safety of ministers in Jharkhand, prompting authorities to intensify security measures.
