Jharkhand Police Headquarters has issued an alert regarding the one-day bandh called by the banned CPI (Maoist) organisation in Jharkhand and Bihar on July 25 in protest against the arrest of Jaya, wife of Naxal commander Vivek, who has a bounty of Rs 1 crore on his head.

 

Special vigil is being maintained on highways and railways. Jharkhand Police Headquarters has issued an alert in the entire state in view of the Maoist bandh called on July 25.

 

Jharkhand Police spokesperson cum IG (Operations) Amol Venukant Homkar said that the Superintendents of Police of all the districts have been instructed to remain alert during the bandh.

 

He said that special vigilance has been instructed during the bandh, especially in areas under Vivek and Jaya's influence, which include Giridih, Bokaro and Dhanbad. He said that during the bandh, Maoists often create obstacles in development work. In such a situation, the security forces have been instructed to deploy forces for the security of development work if needed.

 

The IG said that special vigil is being kept on mobile towers, schools and buildings in Naxal-affected areas.

 

Railway has also issued an alert regarding the bandh. Security of trains passing through Naxal-affected areas has been increased. Vigilance has been asked at all stations. Patrolling has been increased in highly sensitive areas.

 

Senior DEN of Chakradharpur has been asked to be especially vigilant in Chakradharpur- Rourkela section. Loco pilots and assistant loco pilots in Chakradharpur have been asked to be alert so that all information can be exchanged with RPF and GRP.

 

Railway SP Praveen Pushkar said that RPF, Railway officials along with every police station area have been asked to be vigilant regarding the Maoist bandh.

Naxalites put up dozens of banners and posters late on Tuesday night near Grid Chowk and Madangjahir Chowk of Sonua-Lonjo main road under Sonua police station in West SInghbhum district in connection with the martyr's remembrance week from July 25 to August 3.

 

In this, an appeal was made to make the Podahat-Kolhan-Saranda forest area exploitation-free. On receiving information, Sonua police seized the banners and posters.
