The INDI Alliance in Jharkhand faces a stalemate over its seat-sharing formula, with smaller parties staking their claims amid ongoing discord.

The CPI (ML) has accused the JMM and Congress of pushing the alliance into a precarious position due to their unilateral allocation of 70 seats between themselves.

The CPI (ML) stated that this decision by JMM and Congress was made without consensus, creating rifts within the alliance. Manoj Bhakt, CPI (ML) State Secretary, expressed concerns, noting that this dispute has now spread to Bishrampur, following earlier tensions in Dhanwar.

In response, the CPI (ML) has given JMM and Congress an ultimatum to resolve the issues through dialogue. Bhakt warned that, unless JMM withdraws its
candidate from Dhanwar, CPI (ML) will release a second list of candidates beyond the three seats it had initially announced.

Bhakt added that CPI (ML) holds a strong position in seats like Jamua and Bagodar and has already named candidates for Sindri, Nirsa, and Dhanwar.

He criticised JMM’s decision to field a candidate in Dhanwar despite CPI (ML) announcing its own candidate first.

He further pointed out that following Congress leader Manju Devi's defection to BJP, CPI (ML) was well-placed to claim the Jamua seat; however, JMM awarded the ticket to BJP rebel Kedar Hazra.

The CPI (ML) urged JMM and Congress to promptly address the matter, stating it would contest additional seats if the issues remain unresolved.

Notably, JMM has fielded 43 candidates, exceeding its earlier commitment of 41.

Similarly, Congress and RJD are considering fielding candidates in more constituencies than initially agreed upon in the seat-sharing arrangement of 41-29-7-4.
