Jharkhand is preparing to step onto the global economic stage for the first time with its participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland.
A high-level official delegation, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, will represent the state at the prestigious international gathering. After the Davos programme, the delegation will proceed on an official visit to the United Kingdom, including engagements in London and Oxford.
The visit is being considered a landmark moment as it comes in the year marking 25 years of Jharkhand’s formation and signals the state’s intent to position itself as an emerging destination for sustainable and inclusive growth.
Jharkhand’s participation at Davos is being framed around the theme “Growth in Harmony with Nature,” reflecting the state’s development philosophy that seeks to balance economic progress with environmental protection and social equity.
The theme also aligns with WEF 2026’s broader focus on resilience, trust, sustainability, and long-term economic transformation.
At Davos, the Jharkhand delegation will take part in curated sessions, policy dialogues, and official interactions at the India Pavilion and other WEF platforms.
The discussions will focus on attracting responsible investment, promoting sustainable industrialisation, advancing energy transition, exploring opportunities in critical minerals, and showcasing Jharkhand’s long-term development potential.
The state will also highlight the growing role of sub-national governments in shaping inclusive and resilient economic models.
Following the Davos meetings, the Chief Minister-led team will travel to the United Kingdom to strengthen cooperation in investment, education, innovation, and institutional development.
The UK visit will include engagements with policymakers, academic institutions, investors, and the Indian diaspora as part of broader India–UK economic and knowledge partnerships.
A key highlight of the UK leg will be Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s address at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. He will be the first Indian Chief Minister to speak at the globally renowned public policy institution, engaging with faculty and students in a lecture and interactive session.
The overall objective of the visit is to enhance Jharkhand’s international visibility, deepen global partnerships, and support employment generation, industrial growth, and sustainable economic development.
To provide information and updates, the state has launched an official website, www.jharkhand at davos.co.in, along with dedicated social media outreach for JharkhandAtDavos 2026.
