The Jharkhand government will launch a three-day pulse polio immunisation campaign on June 28, aiming to administer oral polio vaccine to 61.26 lakh children below the age of five across the state, officials said on Friday.
Under the campaign, eligible children will receive two drops of the oral polio vaccine to protect them against the disease.
Preparations for the statewide drive were reviewed by Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Ajoy Kumar Singh on Thursday. According to an official release, the meeting focused on campaign preparedness, inter-departmental coordination and measures to ensure that no eligible child is left out of the immunisation exercise.
On the first day of the campaign, June 28, vaccination will be carried out through 24,507 polio booths set up across the state.

Health Department teams will then conduct door-to-door visits on June 29 and 30 to administer the vaccine to children who are unable to visit the booths.
Singh directed the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, School Education, and Information and Public Relations departments to work in close coordination to ensure the success of the campaign.
He also called for the active participation of Anganwadi workers, Sahiyas, panchayat representatives, self-help groups, village-level organisations and Rural Development Department personnel to spread awareness and encourage parents to have their children vaccinated.
"All departments concerned must ensure complete coordination and active cooperation to make the campaign a people's movement," Singh said.
The senior official appealed to parents to bring all children below five years of age to the nearest polio booth on June 28 and cooperate with health workers during the subsequent house-to-house visits.
The pulse polio campaign forms part of the country's ongoing efforts to maintain its polio-free status through universal immunisation of children.
