JK Apni Party Chief Syed Altaf Bukhari said on Thursday that his party would not ally with any political alliance in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections.
"We are not allied with any political party. In the upcoming elections, we will neither seek support from any political party nor offer support to any party.
“I am sure that the Apni Party will receive the public mandate in these elections," Bukhari said at a party event celebrating Independence Day.
Bukhari expressed hope that after the Assembly elections are held the elected government would provide relief to the people, "who have suffered greatly over the past 35 years."
Senior leaders and workers gathered at the Apni Party headquarters in Srinagar to celebrate Independence Day.
Bukhari hoisted the tricolour amidst enthusiastic celebrations and nationalistic slogans.
After the event, he extended Independence Day greetings to the people, saying, "As we celebrate our nation’s Independence Day today, I extend my warmest greetings to my fellow citizens, especially to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“May this significant day bring prosperity and well-being to all and promote unity and harmony among people of diverse religious faiths and regions across the country."
Prominent party leaders present included Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir, PAC Chairman Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Vice President Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Chief Coordinator Abdul Majeed Paddar, Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Chief Spokesperson Muntazir Mohiuddin, Media Advisor Farooq Andrabi, President of the Women's Wing Dilshad Shaheen, and others.
