Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra on Friday said he will join the hunger strike for statehood in Srinagar from tomorrow.
According to a statement issued by the JKPCC, the party is set to intensify the statehood movement. Its Pradesh (state) chief will join the hunger strike along with District Presidents and District Coordinators of the PCC for the Kashmir province.
The information was shared by the party’s Chief Spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma, today. Besides Kashmir, the hunger strike will also be launched in Jammu on the next day, August 10, he said. The hunger strike shall start at the Maharaja Hari Singh statue site at Tawi Bridge from 10 am onwards.
He said the party chief Karra had previously announced the phase-wise schedule for the intensification of the struggle for the restoration of full statehood in a press conference at Jammu on July 28.

The PCC chairman shall himself lead the hunger strike in both capital cities to further intensify the over eight-month-long movement of the party, Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq, which has already gained momentum after the Srinagar Chalo, Jammu Chalo and Delhi Chalo calls organised by the party on July 19th, 20th, and 21–22, 2025, respectively.
The movement is gaining more and more support from people and various political, social, and trade organisations in the Union Territory and across the country, he concluded.
