The deadlock over the age relaxation file between the CM’s Office and the LG’s Office has irked hundreds of aspirants who are set to appear for the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) that is scheduled for December 7.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday said that the file was sent back on the same day it was received, December 2, with a query, but there was no response from the government.
Sinha said that a query regarding the age relaxation issue was sent to the commission to determine if last-minute altercations were possible.
While clarifying its stance, the LG Office posted on X: "Social media posts about the JKPSC exam are misleading. Lok Bhavan had received the file on December 2, which was categorically related to age relaxation. The file was returned the same day, December 2, with a query on whether it is logistically possible to conduct the exam on December 7 after incorporating modifications in eligibility criteria at such a late stage.”
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah urged the JKPSC to consider the “unprecedented stress” on aspirants and to postpone the exam to ensure fairness and equal opportunity for all.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s Office said in a post on X that “The Jammu and Kashmir government expressed deep concern over the travel chaos caused by the ongoing airline issues.”
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti also voiced support for the candidates, stating aspirants of the JKPSC CCE are “caught in a tussle between the LG and CM.”
“In this cold, they are out on the streets asking for nothing more than basic fairness, age relaxation and a reasonable exam schedule. I urge @OfficeOfLGJandK and @OmarAbdullah to step in and resolve this issue without any further delay,” Mufti wrote on X.
