In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has announced a new political alliance with the Jai Bharat Party in Assam.
The announcement was made during a political awareness rally held on Tuesday at the Majikajan Tea Garden in Biswanath Chariali of Biswanath District.
The rally was attended by Jharkhand Chief Minister and executive president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Hemant Soren, who addressed a large gathering of local residents and representatives of tribal communities.
Speaking at the event, Soren emphasised the importance of unity among tribal communities and highlighted their vital contribution to India’s tea industry.
He said that the tribal population living in Assam has played a key role in building the country’s tea sector and deserves proper recognition, dignity and rights.
Referring to the newly announced alliance, Soren said the partnership between the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and the Jai Bharat Party aims to strengthen the political voice of marginalised sections, including tribal communities, workers and the poor.
He added that the alliance would work together to raise issues related to social justice, rights and development.
Soren also said that preparations are underway for the forthcoming elections and that efforts are being made to strengthen the party organisation in Assam. He urged people to remain united and participate actively in the democratic process by exercising their voting rights responsibly.
Political observers view the alliance between the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and the Jai Bharat Party as a strategic move by the Jharkhand-based party to expand its political footprint beyond its traditional base.
The development is expected to add a new dimension to Assam’s political landscape as the state moves closer to the next Assembly elections.
