The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has sought permission from the Election Commission of India to launch its ambitious ‘JMM Samman Yojna’ in Jharkhand ahead of the Assembly elections.
The party today submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand saying that the BJP’s ‘Go Go Didi’ scheme violates the directions of the ECI. It further sought permission from the commission to launch the ‘JMM Samman Yojna’ if the ‘Go Go Didi’ scheme is legitimate in the eyes of the commission.
Under the scheme, JMM has claimed that on the first day of every month, Rs 2500 will be sent to the accounts of women and Rs 30,000 will be given every year.
JMM has already demanded from the Chief Minister that he should stop filling forms under the ‘Go Go Didi’ scheme, otherwise, JMM will also adopt such tactics.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren directed Deputy Commissioners of all districts to take action and lodge FIRs against those involved in violating the ECI directives. However, challenging the CM’s order BJP State President Babulal Marandi helped women fill the form on Tuesday.
Notably, the JMM-Congress coalition government launched the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Mainiya Samman Yojana in August this year and it has sent three instalments of Rs 1000 each to over 45 lakh women in the State under the scheme.
Seeing the impact of this scheme on women voters, the BJP promised to increase the amount of Rs 1000 given under the Mainiya Samman Yojana to Rs 2100 and talked about starting the ‘Gogo Didi Yojana’ in its manifesto after forming its government in Jharkhand and started getting forms filled for this.
Now when BJP is getting such forms filled, to counter it, JMM issued a form promising to increase that amount to Rs 2500 and sought permission from the Election Commission to distribute it.
The JMM says that on the lines of the government's Mainyan Samman Yojana, filling forms for the Gogo Didi Yojana is a fraudulent matter and it should be stopped.
