The Election Committee of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has unveiled a list of 141 candidates eligible to contest for the central panel in the forthcoming students' union elections.
Comprising four key positions - president, vice-president, general secretary, and joint secretary - the central panel of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) will witness a competitive race among the approved candidates.
For the coveted position of president, the Election Committee has declared 35 candidates eligible, while 37 contenders have been approved for the vice-president role.
Additionally, 38 aspirants have been greenlit for the role of general secretary, and 31 for joint secretary.
The Election Committee's announcement also includes a list of 171 candidates cleared to compete for the councillor positions from various schools within the university.
With representation expected from approximately 20 schools across JNU, the upcoming polls are anticipated to witness enthusiastic participation from students.
At present, the nomination window remains open for withdrawals.
The Election Committee is slated to release the final candidate list at 3 pm, providing clarity on the prospective contenders vying for leadership roles in the university's student body.
