On Tuesday evening, a BMW hit-and-run in Chennai claimed the life of a video journalist. Pradeep Kumar, the victim, was struck by a speeding BMW on the Maduravoyal-Tambaram elevated bypass when he was riding his motorcycle.
Pradeep Kumar, from Pondy Bazaar, worked as a cameraperson for a well-known Telugu news channel and also worked part-time as a Rapido driver in the city.
After the accident, the driver of the BMW abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
Commuters later noticed the abandoned car and alerted the police. When the police arrived, they found the damaged motorcycle but no sign of Kumar.
Kumar’s body was discovered 100 meters away from the accident spot, after police investigated the area. They concluded that the impact of the crash threw Kumar off his motorcycle, sending him from the elevated highway to the ground below. He died on impact.
The police are still searching for the driver of the BMW, and investigations are ongoing.
