In a recent political development, K Kavitha, who was suspended by the BRS for alleged anti-party activities, announced on Wednesday that she is resigning from her position as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC).
Her decision comes a day after the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, led by her father and party president K Chandrasekhar Rao, suspended her from the party.
"I am resigning from the MLC position and the party’s primary membership," Kavitha told the media, explaining her decision. She added that she would be sending her resignation to both the Speaker and to K Chandrasekhar Rao.
On Tuesday, BRS General Secretaries T Ravinder Rao and Soma Bharat Kumar stated in a press release that the party had suspended Kavitha with immediate effect. They claimed that her recent behaviour and "anti-party activities" were damaging the BRS, prompting the leadership to take a serious view of the matter.
