The Bharatiya Janata Party will stage a protest at Vidhana Soudha on August 5 to counter Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s agitation on the same day against his claim of “vote theft” during the Lok Sabha polls last year. Following the protest, a BJP delegation will move to Raj Bhavan and present a petition to Governor Thawarchand Gehlot. Rahul will take part in the Congress' protest at Freedom Park on August 5. He and some party leaders will then proceed to the Chief Electoral Officer's (CEO) office to present a memorandum on last year's Lok Sabha polls irregularities.

BJP state president BY Vijayendra stated Congress has initiated a fresh narrative in Karnataka and in all of India on rampant election corruption.

"They (Congress) have lost confidence in democracy. They've lost confidence in constitutional institutions. Siddaramaiah and (deputy chief minister) DK Shivakumar have also lent their voices. If there were malpractices, how did the Congress assume power in Karnataka? How did they win all three bye-elections?" Vijayendra questioned, accusing Rahul of enacting "a dishonest drama" out of "sheer frustration".

The charge made by Congress, which Vijayendra labelled as "an attack on democracy", is tantamount to doubting the state government's own officials who had supervised elections, he stated. "Don't the CM and DCM believe their own officers — teachers, tahsildars, deputy commissioners et al — who carried out election work?" he asked.

Congress claimed voters were being brought into the Mahadevapura constituency to the BJP's advantage, who had won the Bangalore Central Lok Sabha constituency with a margin of 32,707 votes. Bangalore Central MP PC Mohan had said it was natural for the number of voters to increase in Mahadevapura and other areas outside the city center.
