The Congress government in Karnataka marked two years in office on 20 May with a large public meeting in Hosapete. The event, named Samarpana Sankalpa Samavesha was held amid continuous heavy rain.
Much of the crowd gathered under a large waterproof canopy. But many people outside struggled to find cover as the rain caused waterlogging and traffic jams across the town.
Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda opened the meeting. He welcomed both the dignitaries and the public. Speaking on stage, he called the rain a blessing.
“It may bring inconvenience, but it is a boon for our farmers,” he said. "It is a divine sign that we are on the right path.”

He said the Congress government had fulfilled its promises. The event was organised to highlight the achievements of the last two years.
Leaders like AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar were due to fly in.
But due to the poor weather, they travelled by road instead. They reached the stage at 12.30 pm.
Before their arrival, several ministers addressed the audience. They shared department-wise reports on progress. These included the Culture Minister, Forest Minister, PWD Minister and the Minister for Law and Tourism.
Gowda highlighted one key reform. The state has now upgraded many unauthorised settlements into legal revenue villages. These include tribal hamlets too. Residents have been given digital title deeds, making them legal landowners.
He praised Mallikarjun Kharge for beginning this work during his time as Revenue Minister years ago. He also thanked Rahul Gandhi. “He promised the Lambani people nearly a decade ago that they would get their land rights,” Gowda said. “That promise has been kept.”
He said the new digital title deeds are secure and cannot be lost. “This is historic. Today we are handing out 1,11,111 title deeds at this convention,” he added.
