With just two days left for the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Anbukumar has urged eligible voters who are yet to complete the verification process to submit their forms to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) or Booth Level Agents (BLAs) by August 8.
The SIR exercise, which began on June 30 and covers 5.54 crore electors across the state, is set to conclude on Saturday. According to the CEO, 100 per cent digitisation of the verification process, including the identification of ASDDO (Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate/Already Enrolled and Others) voters, will be completed on Thursday.
During the verification drive, officials identified 1,11,04,705 electors under the ASDDO category. The list includes 66,64,943 voters who have permanently shifted, 16,30,872 deceased voters, 6,89,904 voters who are already enrolled elsewhere and 4,88,974 voters who refused to sign the verification forms.
Bengaluru alone accounts for nearly 49 lakh ASDDO cases, officials said. Anbukumar stated that details of all ASDDO voters have already been shared with political parties through their Booth Level Agents, while the lists have also been made available with BLOs for public verification.
He added that although verification forms were distributed to all electors, 22,977 forms are yet to be returned. The CEO appealed to the concerned voters to complete the process before the August 8 deadline to ensure their names remain updated in the electoral rolls.
The draft electoral roll will be published on August 17. Voters whose names do not appear in the draft list will be able to apply for inclusion by submitting Form-6 along with the required supporting documents. So far, the Election Commission has received 12.20 lakh applications seeking inclusion or correction of names in the electoral rolls.
