The annual Kailash Yatra in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district will begin on July 15, officials said on Wednesday. The pilgrimage will continue till August 30, and the district administration has made it mandatory for all pilgrims to register and carry valid medical certificates.

A review meeting, chaired by Kalpa Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Amit Kaltaik, was held to review preparedness for the yatra. Kaltaik informed that the yatra will start from Tangling village, while the Purbani Kanda route may be opened depending on weather and trail conditions.

A base camp will be set up at Malling Khatta in Tangling, where pilgrims will have to undergo a compulsory medical check-up before moving forward. Only those who pass the medical screening and pay a green fee of ₹200 will be allowed to proceed.

To make registration easier, online sign-up will open from July 11, while offline registration will be available at Tangling starting July 14.

The SDM also directed the formation of a Quick Response Team (QRT) to tackle any emergencies during the yatra.

He assured that medical facilities will be set up at various points along the route. Ganesh Park will have large oxygen cylinders and a medical officer, while Parvati Cave will have a paramedic team and smaller oxygen cylinders.

"Basic amenities such as public toilets, solar lighting, clean drinking water, resting shelters, oxygen cylinders and medical support will be available in a timely manner at various locations," the SDM said.

"For the health and safety of pilgrims, Ganesh Park will be equipped with large oxygen cylinders and a medical officer, while Parvati Cave will have a paramedical team and smaller oxygen cylinders" he added.

Kaltaik added that the district administration has made proper safety and logistical arrangements to ensure a smooth and secure pilgrimage for all devotees.
