BJP’s Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut seeks a relief package for the tourism sector from the Himachal Pradesh government. The sector has been hard hit during this year’s monsoon season havoc. The MP reviewed the situation in Laghati, Dadka, Bhutti, Kullu city, and Manikaran valley in the Kullu assembly constituency and interacted with the affected families.
All the people associated with the hospitality industry have been affected, including hoteliers, cab drivers, small shop owners, and people working in tourism and allied sectors, said Kangana as she urged the government to release a relief package.
"The Union government has given a big package, but distribution of funds is with the state government. I would urge the state government to provide a relief package to the tourism industry," the actor-turned-politician added.
"Do not target me, I am also a single woman affected by the disaster. I own a restaurant and the sales today were mere Rs 50 while I pay Rs 15 lakh monthly salaries to the staff," said Kangana on being asked about her absence from the constituency during the disaster.
Besides this, the leader on Thursday had asked the media not only to cover one side of the story (disaster), but also to report on the constructive initiatives and restoration work going on in the affected areas.
When asked about the Bijli Mahadev Ropeway project, she said the Centre is inspired by the devotion of the people towards Lord Shiva, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is himself a big devotee, and whatever the temple administration and people decide would be done. Though the residents have been protesting against the construction of the project in Kullu to develop it as a tourist destination. The Bijili Mahadev temple is located at a distance of 14 Km from Kullu, and devotees trek for nearly three hours to reach the temple, but now the government has decided to construct the ropeway in the teeth of opposition from locals.
