Panic and outrage swept through Jamshedpur in Jharkhand after Vinay Singh, Jharkhand state president of Karni Sena and a well-known Hindu leader, was found shot dead near National Highway-33 under MGM police station limits on Sunday.
The 40-year-old leader, a resident of Sahara City in Mango, had left home around 9:30 p.m. after receiving a phone call. Hours later, his body was discovered riddled with bullets in a field about 300 metres from the highway near Baliguma. His Scooty and licensed pistol were found nearby, suggesting a targeted killing.
Police suspect the murder was the result of a long-standing rivalry with a criminal gang from the Mango area. According to sources, Singh had been locked in a power struggle with a known local gangster, and the conflict had intensified in recent weeks.
“This appears to be a premeditated attack. We have a strong lead and are following up,” said SP (Rural) Rishabh Garg, confirming that call records and CCTV footage are being reviewed.

The killing has triggered strong reactions across the city. Around midnight, Singh’s supporters and Karni Sena members blocked Dimna Chowk, demanding swift justice. The protest disrupted traffic and led to increased police deployment to prevent further unrest.
Protesters raised concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation and questioned the government’s ability to protect community leaders. Singh, known for his vocal stance on Hindu rights, had gained influence in Mango and surrounding areas, especially among the youth.
As pressure mounts, police have intensified the investigation. Forensic teams have examined the crime scene, and sources suggest arrests could follow soon as authorities close in on the suspects.
