Kashmir schools to remain shut till March 7 amid restrictions

The Government ordered the closure of all schools and colleges across the Kashmir Division till March 7 as a precautionary measure.Minister for Education Sakeena Itoo said that the decision was taken in view of the prevailing situation.

Restrictions continue to remain enforced in view of prevalent unrest across Kashmir


In view of prevalent situation across Valley, the administration has ordered closure of the schools for this week and continuation of restrictions in Kashmir that were imposed after protests broke out in the region after the killing of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, in joint US-Israel strikes.

 

The restrictions that were imposed on Monday after protests broke out on Sunday following killing of Khamenei will continue.The restrictions continued for second day today in parts of Kashmir as a precautionary measure to prevent any protests. However, there were peaceful protests in some Shia dominated areas.

 

The Government ordered the closure of all schools and colleges across the Kashmir Division till March 7 as a precautionary measure.Minister for Education Sakeena Itoo said that the decision was taken in view of the prevailing situation.

 

“We have now decided to keep the educational institutions closed till March 7,” she said, adding that the Government is closely monitoring the situation and will take a call on reopening accordingly.Itoo also posted on ‘X’ that all schools and colleges in the Kashmir Division shall remain closed till the weekend.

 

The decision comes at a time when schools up to Class 8 were scheduled to reopen after a winter break of more than two months.The University of Kashmir has postponed all examinations scheduled to be held on March 4, according to an official notification issued by the Office of the Controller of Examinations.

 

The notice stated that all University examinations slated for Wednesday stand postponed. Fresh dates for the conduct of the postponed examinations will be notified separately.The order, issued by the Assistant Controller of Examinations (Conduct), has been circulated to the concerned authorities for necessary action, including uploading the notification on the official university website and informing the media.

 

Students have been advised to stay updated through official university channels for further announcements regarding the revised examination schedule.In the meantime, security remains tightened across parts of north Kashmir  as senior police and paramilitary officials reviewed the law-and-order situation, also in a separate meeting with LG Manoj Sinha on Tuesday.
