While there has been a slight improvement in nighttime temperatures, the cold wave and freezing temperatures are likely to persist in the coming days, as the MeT office predicts dry weather until December 7.

Weather conditions are likely to change from December 7 onwards as the MeT Department predicts light snowfall in the higher reaches and rainfall in the plains from Sunday.

Nearly all weather stations in the Kashmir Valley recorded an improvement in nighttime temperatures on Thursday, owing to cloudy weather.

Jammu remained the warmest place with 12 degrees Celsius, while Pulwama was the coldest, with minus 3 degrees. Daytime temperatures have remained relatively moderate across Jammu and Kashmir, and nighttime temperatures have also recorded marginal improvement compared to last week across most weather stations in the Valley.

In central Kashmir, temperatures improved substantially in Budgam and Ganderbal, along with South Kashmir’s Shopian, Kulgam, and Anantnag over the past 48 hours.

Qazigund, known as the gateway to Kashmir, recorded minus 0.2 degrees, while several weather stations in north Kashmir, including Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara, also recorded a slight drop in the night temperature.

In the Jammu division, the weather remained relatively moderate, with Jammu city recording 12 degrees Celsius, while Banihal, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, and Batote experienced a slight dip in minimum temperatures.
