Telangana Jagruti president Kalvakuntla Kavitha pulled no punches during a press conference on Sunday, taking direct aim at the Bharat Rashtra Samithi leadership for what she described as a legacy of inflated contracts and "misleading" the public. Speaking from the Jagruti office in Banjara Hills, she specifically highlighted the Singareni Collieries, alleging that tenders were frequently awarded at rates far exceeding the original estimates during the BRS tenure.

Kavitha was particularly critical of BRS working president KT Rama Rao, noting that she had expected him to do his homework before speaking on the tender process. She alleged that his claims were factually incorrect and pointed to a shift in procurement rules — such as extending mandatory site visits to overburden works — as a sign of deeper issues. The accusations got even more personal when she alleged that contracts under the previous regime were handed out to the former CM's relatives, while also claiming that T Harish Rao is currently trying to push through massive contracts worth ₹25,000 crore for a single favoured contractor.

Beyond the financial allegations, Kavitha shut down persistent rumours about her moving to the Congress party. "Congress is a losing party," she said, dismissively. "Jagruti will win the next elections." In a cheeky bit of political role-reversal, she actually invited TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud to jump ship and join Telangana Jagruti instead, even offering him the role of National Convenor.

The phone-tapping scandal that has dominated Telangana headlines also came up, but Kavitha didn't sound hopeful. She called the ongoing investigation a "joke" and expressed serious doubt that victims of the surveillance — herself included — would ever actually see justice served.
