Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavitha announced on Monday that she plans to float a new political party and contest the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. The announcement was made while she was responding to questions posed by netizens on 'X' under the hashtag #AskKavitha. Responding to a query about a new political party, she confirmed that her it would contest the upcoming state elections, which are due in 2028.
Kavitha, further, added that the name of the party will be selected based on suggestions provided by the public. Kavitha, who was suspended from the BRS, stated that her primary objective is to achieve 'Social Telangana.’ She indicated that Telangana Jagruthi will focus on creating political opportunities for youth and women, and will continue its fight for social justice while the organisation is gradually strengthened.
The daughter of BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, Kavitha was suspended from the BRS in September after accusing her cousins and party leaders T Harish Rao and J Santosh Kumar of "tarnishing" her father's image over the Kaleshwaram project.
Since her suspension, she has been actively concentrating on public issues under the banner of Telangana Jagruti, the cultural organisation she leads. Accusing both the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the ruling Congress of "corruption and irregularities," Kavitha had previously stated on December 12 that she intends to become the Chief Minister one day and conduct a thorough probe into all the "injustices" committed since Telangana's formation in 2014.
