The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a massive roadshow on Friday in support of Sanjeev Arora, its candidate for the upcoming Ludhiana West Assembly by-election. The event marked a major show of strength ahead of Arora’s nomination filing.
Leading the rally were AAP national convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab AAP president Aman Arora, and senior party leader Atishi. The leaders, joined by Arora, initially took to the streets atop a campaign vehicle as the procession began from Aarti Chowk.
The roadshow was originally planned to pass through Ghumar Mandi and Bhai Bala Chowk, ending at the Mini Secretariat. However, due to soaring temperatures, the leaders shifted to cars midway to complete the route.
Throughout the rally, enthusiastic supporters chanted slogans of "Inquilab Zindabad" as the convoy made its way through the constituency.
Addressing the crowd, CM Bhagwant Mann said “In a day or two you will know the exact placement of the AAP election symbol on the ballot. Regardless of the number, we know it will come first.”
Kejriwal began his speech with “Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal”, Waheguru ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.” Referring to PM Narendra Modi’s recent statement, “Hamare ragon mein sindoor daudta hai,” Kejriwal said, “Sanjeev Arora ke ragon mein Ludhiana daudta hai.”
Taking a swipe at Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Kejriwal endorsed Arora’s campaign slogan — “Na gussa, na ahankaar, Sanjeev Arora iss baar.” He added that voters who want development should choose Arora, while “those who want anger and frustration” could opt for Ashu.
The Ludhiana West bypoll is being closely watched as a key contest in Punjab’s political landscape.
