Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said his party does not hesitate to take action against its own members, citing the swift arrest of Punjab Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Monday.
In a post on X, Kejriwal said, "Recently, serious allegations were made against a minister in the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab. Our government took immediate action against that minister without any delay or discrimination, not only removing him from his position but also getting him arrested.”
He took a sharp swipe at the Bharatiya Janata Party, alleging that a similar case in Haryana—where an ADGP committed suicide—saw the BJP support those facing serious allegations instead of taking action.
Kejriwal added, "This is the difference between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP. When it comes to justice, the Aam Aadmi Party doesn't hesitate to take action even against a minister in its own government, while the BJP sacrifices justice itself to protect its own people.”
Punjab Police arrested Bhullar on Monday after his name surfaced in connection with the suicide of Punjab State Warehousing Corporation officer Gagandeep Singh Randhawa.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation) Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu said Bhullar has been kept by CIA staff in Amritsar and will be produced in court on Tuesday.
The Punjab State Warehousing Corporation Union staged a sit-in protest demanding justice in the Randhawa suicide case.
Earlier, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had stated that his government has a zero-tolerance policy for corruption and that the law applies equally to everyone, including ministers and party cadres.
