MLA Saji Cheriyan on Wednesday told the Speaker of Kerala Assembly that his attendance for the last few days of the current session were marked as absent despite him being present.
The same problem was reportedly faced by other MLAs too. Speaking on this, Cheriyan said that some of the legislators attested to the fact in the House.
The MLA from Chengannur constituency also suggested that a diary be kept outside the House so that the legislators can manually mark their attendance.
Following that, Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said there were some issues with the system, and it was being looked into.
"Steps are being taken to carry out the necessary rectification. It will be done soon. We will also consider Cheriyan's suggestion to keep a register," he said.
Meanwhile, the Kerala Assembly will be training 71 new MLAs on parliamentary practices on June 17. The training session will also be attended by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan.
