Kerala has become the first Indian state to offer online filing and hearing facilities for Permanent Lok Adalats. This move aims to make justice more accessible, especially for marginalised groups.

This shift is part of a wider effort by the Kerala judiciary to use technology for improving access to justice. It reduces the need for people to travel to legal centres, especially for small claims.

Kerala currently has three Permanent Lok Adalats. They are located in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Kozhikode.

Previously, claimants had to visit these centres in person. This created difficulties for many, especially those living in rural or remote areas.

To support the transition, e-Sewa Kendras and legal service centres at district and taluk levels will help users file cases and attend hearings.

This digital step marks a big change in how justice is delivered in Kerala.
