While Satheesan said he is currently withholding their identities out of propriety, he warned he would be forced to name them publicly if they do not stop interfering with the legal process.

The opposition Congress launched a scathing attack on the Kerala CMO on Tuesday, accusing it of meddling in the ongoing SIT probe into the Sabarimala gold theft case through back-channel intermediaries. Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan told reporters that two specific IPS officers have been tasked by the CMO to exert "intense pressure" on the team investigating the disappearance of the gold.

While Satheesan said he is currently withholding their identities out of propriety, he warned he would be forced to name them publicly if they do not stop interfering with the legal process.

Emphasising the sensitivity of the case, he noted that because the theft involves gold belonging to Lord Ayyappa, the investigation must be handled with absolute sincerity and impartiality.

According to Satheesan, the only reason the probe has gained any real momentum — including the recent arrests of former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) chiefs A Padmakumar and N Vasu — is because of the High Court’s active intervention. He argued that if the investigation had remained entirely under the state government's control, it likely would have hit a dead end long ago to protect those in power.

For now, the opposition is holding off on expressing a total lack of confidence in the SIT, but Satheesan made it clear they are monitoring every move.
