Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has asked Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to provide a detailed report on the alleged anti-national activities that the CM referenced during a recent interview with a national daily.
The Governor criticised Vijayan for not disclosing specific details about the individuals or groups involved in such activities and expressed concern about the lack of action from the state government.
Governor Khan emphasised the urgency of the matter, stating, “I have written to the chief minister to furnish a detailed report and have specifically asked who are the people and groups involved in anti-national activities. What action has the government taken? I want this report at the earliest.” He also criticised the government for what he perceived as a failure to fulfil its responsibilities.
This issue follows an earlier request from the Governor for information regarding allegations of phone tapping by the government, which remains unanswered.
Khan expressed alarm over the CM’s mention of gold smuggling operations being linked to funding anti-national activities, noting that these operations have been ongoing for at least three years. He questioned the state's response to such activities, underscoring that the CM should be taking corrective action rather than merely speaking to the press about the issue.
Khan also addressed the alleged disruption of the Thrissur Pooram festival, questioning whether appropriate action had been taken against those responsible.
His pointed remarks reflect escalating tensions between the Governor and the Kerala government, especially on issues related to governance and internal security.
