A man and woman were arrested by Puthukad Police on Sunday after they were found to have buried the remains of their children born out of wedlock. The incident was discovered when the man, Bhavin, approached the police station at 12.30 am with a bag of bones in his possession, saying they were the bones of his children with his girlfriend Aneesha.
Aneesha is said to have delivered two male children during the course of the relationship. The first one was born in the year 2021, and the second in the year 2024.
The first child, according to Aneesha's assertion, who was born in the year 2021, succumbed after the umbilical cord got entangled around the baby's neck. The baby, however, was buried on the grounds of her home. Eight months after that, she gave the remains over to Bhavin at his behest. Bhavin is said to have retained the remains as evidence of the relationship, in the event if she ever left him. He also told his friends about this, saying that the bones were being preserved in order to perform the last rites of the child.
An initial probe indicates that the second child, even though delivered at home by Aneesha, was kidnapped and buried at Bhavin's residence. The moment the baby began crying, Aneesha is said to have smothered it to death so that the screams did not reach the outside world.
The two are said to have had a recent fight, where Aneesha threatened to abandon Bhavin. Scared, Bhavin brought the child's body to the police station and owned up.

Addressing the media, Thrissur Rural SP Krishnakumar stated, "The man arrived at the police station late last night with a bag. He explained that it contained the bones of the children of him and his mistress. Initially, the police believed he was intoxicated and talking rubbish, but they soon understood that he was speaking the truth."
“We immediately decided to verify his statement. The Circle Inspector and DySP probed into the matter without delay,” Krishnakumar added.
“The couple reportedly met via Facebook when Aneesha was 18 and Bhavin was 20, and according to their statement, they were planning to get married. In 2021, they had their first child. Aneesha informed the child was stillborn, stating she had lost the sense of the baby's movement two days prior to delivery," he said. "Aneesha initially mentioned the second child was also stillborn, but it was later discovered that the baby was alive and was smothered to death," he added.
The bones have been taken for forensic analysis. "Preliminary inspections indicate that they are human bones, but extensive forensic analysis will ascertain the same," said the SP, adding that Bhavin and Aneesha will be questioned further.
Biju Kumar, the Chalakudy DySP, and CI Mahendra Simhan will lead the probe as an SIT team.
Bhavin is a plumber by profession, whereas Aneesha works as a lab technician. While talking to the media, Aneesha's mother refuted knowing anything about her daughter's pregnancies.
